About This Study
"I want you woven into a tapestry of love..."
This was the Apostle Paul's prayer for the Early Church, and it is our hope and prayer for Innerweavings. Though these words were written more than two millennia ago, we know in Christ, there is no separation. We are woven together across time and throughout eternity. No matter our position on earth or place in history, all believers are the collective Body of Christ. We can enjoy fellowship and connectedness in the knowledge that we are all interwoven in the Father's Love. Our Christian brothers and sisters who have gone before us have left us the threads of their living testimony from which we can weave into our own beautiful tapestry to display the magnificent work of God in our lives.
"in touch with everything there is to know of God"
We were inspired to create this study spurred by a love of both the Bible and history. We rest secure in the knowledge that these were REAL women, who lived at a REAL point in history, who lived lives of faith and endured testing and trials which can teach, motivate, and inspire Christian women today. We do not present them as myths, feminists or social justice warriors. During their lifetimes, they "let their light shine" before an unbelieving world. It is to our detriment that later generations have allowed their legacies to diminish, their light to dim, and their great testimonies to be forgotten. We want to reignite their spark so their lights can once again shine so that we may be "in touch with everything there is to know of God."
"then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God's great mystery"
Today we fight many of the same battles as our foremothers in the Lord, albeit on a different scale. Thanks to them, we do not have to "reinvent the wheel." Unlike poor Eve who had to literally learn how to survive and thrive in the world on her own without any other women to show her what works and what doesn't, we can draw on a wealth of information from godly women throughout all of recorded history. Learning from their lives, as they lived out "God's great mystery," will give us confidence and rest - as long as we stay focused on Christ.
"All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else."
The godly tapestries of these women are like no other stories. They are embedded with the wisdom and knowledge of God. They are treasures awaiting our discovery. As Innerweavings presents the inspiring story of a godly woman in her own words, we pray you will vicariously put yourself in her place, envision her setting and circumstances, wrestle with the decisions she faced, mourn with the losses she encountered, rejoice in the victories she experienced, and find golden threads to weave into your own life's tapestry. Then as you follow the accompanying Daily Threads, may you gain even more wisdom and understanding as you revel in these treasures which have been passed down to us. And may we all be "woven into a tapestry of love."
"I want you woven into a tapestry of love,
in touch with everything there is to know of God.
Then you will have minds confident and at rest,
focused on Christ, God's great mystery.
All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge
are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. "
Colossians 2:2-3a MSG version
Each of these in-depth studies focuses on a REAL woman from the Bible, from history, or the sainthood.
The introduction for each woman provides a general overview of her life tapestry.
The Five Daily Threads further explore each woman's life as well as provide practical applications to determine what lessons we can learn from them as we examine the golden threads we need to weave into our own lives.
