In Colossians 2:2-3a Paul shares his prayer for the Christian Church both in his day and the days to come:
"I want you woven into a tapestry of love,
in touch with everything there is to know of God.
Then you will have minds confident and at rest,
focused on Christ, God's great mystery.
All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge
are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else."
Our life tapestry was begun before we were even born by the God who knows our innermost being and knit us together in our mother's womb (Psalm 139:13). The individual threads of our daily life create a unique pattern which should inspire others and bring glory to our Creator. Therefore, we must choose the "threads" wisely, for we are all united as Believers into this one magnificent tapestry.
What an awesome thought! We are "innerwoven" with Christians across the distance of space and time! Though we have unique personal experiences and diverse testimonies, though we have lived at different times and in distant cultures, we are all "innerwoven" into one Holy Tapestry focused on Christ! Let us then continue in persevering faith, fellowshipping together and encouraging each other until that glorious Day when at last our completed Tapestry is revealed!
My life is but a weaving Between my God and me. I cannot choose the colors He weaveth steadily. Oft' times He weaveth sorrow; And I in foolish pride Forget He sees the upper And I the underside. Not 'til the loom is silent And the shuttles cease to fly Will God unroll the canvas And reveal the reason why. The dark threads are as needful In the weaver's skillful hand As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern He has planned He knows, He loves, He cares; Nothing this truth can dim. He gives the very best to those Who leave the choice to Him.
